My wife, Daughter and I where taking a mini vacation and we decided to try some this place out! It was delicious, i forgot the name of this plate bit it was so good. I normally dont eat cabagge but this was great. We enjoyed our meal service and staff where very friendly 5/5 stars and we will be coming back to Red Viking, highly recommend. 🥇⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Went for the Smorgasbord but passed on that ordered fried chicken dinner. I was craving fried chicken and thought, why not give it a try. I was pleasantly surprised that a Danish restaurant had such crispy delicious fried chicken. It was double coated and super crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Overall a decent meal.
Authentic and casual with food at good price. Nice and helpful service though our food took awhile. Perhaps because we went on a Saturday at the lunch hour days after Christmas. Solvang overall was very crowded. Enjoyed the tasty food and time sitting so could catch up with each other
The Red Viking offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, and is one of a handful of restaurants open on Tuesdays (many places are closed in Solvang on Tuesday). They have a good menu, offering Danish and American items. Many customers seem to order the buffet which features a variety of Danish items like sausages and cheeses, vegetables and salads, etc. While I passed this time, I'd be tempted to try the smoked herring with onions on pumpernickel. Instead, had their hamburger. Okay, but fried and therefore a little too greasy. They plate it with a mix of fries and curly fries..it looks odd and would be better imo with just one or the other. I doubt I'd eat that again. Anyway, their side salad is good quality with a healthy mix of greens. Prices are reasonable and service is fine. The ladies do a good job of checking on customers.
Mediocre. Smorgasbord was not as fresh as I would have liked. Mashed potatoes were dry and flavorless. $16 for four shrimp and fries.Menu prices were high and service was slow. On the plus side, meatballs and sausage were flavorful, beer was tasty and smooth. The atmosphere was nice but will try another place next visit.
We came here to have a taste of the real Danish food, recommended by the tourist office. We found a nice cozy restaurant full of danish ornaments and flags, as you will normally see and most European small town places. Food was as expected, tasty, rich and fulfilling, just as if you will be in the middle of European winter. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I had the pork shank and it was delicious; cool plating.
I was staying in buellton on business and it was getting a little bit later in the evening and I needed a place to eat. I did not want to eat fast food so was searching for a restaurant decent quality. I searched and found this restaurant and I have never been in this area before so really had no idea about it. I ordered the lemon herb chicken with vegetables. It came with bread and a little basket. It also came with the sound and I ordered the vinaigrette dressing. The greens for the salad were very fresh especially for that time of the day. Mini restaurants often struggle with keeping salad greens fresh with this restaurants were good. My food was fine as well The chicken and the vegetables. The bread in the basket was different than I had tasted elsewhere but I suspect Danish in origin kind of seedy or nutty or something but I thought it tasted good. Good food at a reasonable price for the area.
Great place for authentic Danish food. The buffet has lots to offer from pickled herring to pastries and LOTS more. Got crowded fast so you know it's good. Service was fast and friendly, too
Had the Country Fried Steak. Tastes really good. Salmon was also taste.
They do the sausage, meatballs and gravy right!!! Very tasty indeed!!! Reminds me of my Grandma’s cooking!
Just a few buildings from the more famous, Solvang Restaurant, the Red Viking's aebelskivers are just as good. Their buffet has a lot to be desired though. They need to work on the options of dishes for the buffet as the choices were super limited.Chicken-Fried steak was delicious and probably my favorite thing here. The wait to sit isn't that long although the place is tiny. Friendly folks. Worth your while to try!
A pleasant experience. Great costumer service and very friendly staff. We went Christmas Eve at noon and it was open. They offer a buffet for $15.99 if I'm right but we decided to go for a menu dish. I would go back 🙂
Its awesome place. Good food and good service.
The service is good, but can’t possibly outshine the poor food quality. I tried the fried chicken and it had an uncooked rubbery texture for part of it and the skin was floating above the meet like a hard shell. Too expensive for what they were serving. Better chicken at KFC.
Food was fine, service ok, not outstanding. It's American Vikings food, so sandwiches, fries, onion rings, mixed greens salads, nothing you didn't eat before if you grew up in the states. Instead of dinner rolls they serve sliced bread. If you are into preserved meat, you may like their buffet option, with sliced meat, meatballs, cheese, mixed greens, potato salad and light desserts like tea cookies, jello and tapioca pudding. Considering that many other places to eat were closed, I suppose because business is slow in January, this one was serving lunch and dinner, that's a plus.
Good eat. A mix of traditional and Danish food. Our food came quick and my burger was delicious! Our waitress was sweet and helpful.
Food was good. Very safe and clean. Great service.
